Welcome to year 2! We have planned a whole year of hands on experiences, problem solving and challenges that will lead to outstanding outcomes. We are especially looking forward to leading the Nativity service, in Ripon Cathedral. Here are our plans for the year.

To support our understanding of our topics we have planned exciting visits which will enrich our learning and give our children the opportunity to develop their social skills, confidence and independence.
Our proposed learning beyond the classroom events for this year are:
- Regular access to our Forest School
- Regular visits to Ripon Cathedral
- Local walks
- Weekly swimming lessons
- A visit to Ripon Fire Station
- Fieldwork activities in Harrogate
- A visit to a synagogue
- A day in Whitby

Homework expectations (reading books/ homework will be given out on Thursday and must be brought back by the following Monday).

Reading 10 minutes daily with an adult (please ensure reading diaries are in school everyday). |
Spelling list sent home weekly in reading records.

Daily practice of number skills (White Rose Maths 1 Minute Maths is a favourite!).
Daily times tables practice (TTRockstars is another fantastic resource for this).

In Year 2, children are encouraged to read for 10 minutes with an adult everyday and record this in their reading diaries.
All children have access to a wide variety of books. Children will come home with a book levelled at their ability.
Parents can support their children's learning through reading with them every day, taking children to the local library to read about our topics, and by practising their intonation and dictation when reading.
